Assassin’s Creed

This game is one of the reasons I got a PS3 (the reason is Mass Effect…which ironically I don’t have yet). I’d seen a friend play parts of the later games, and liked what I heard about the series, so I gave it a whirl. I’m very glad I did.

I hear the later games have more variety to the gameplay, but I still liked this game. Yes, there is a definite pattern you follow: go to a town, climb the viewpoints, investigate, assassinate. I think if the game had been any longer, it would have gotten tedious, but as it was, the stakes increased enough each time that I was never really bored. And the plot “on the outside” was engaging enough to keep me going. I also liked the historical nods. This game made me feel smart and cultured.

Already I can tell that this game is just the tip of the iceberg, and I can’t wait to see what happens in later games. I’m especially hoping for more from the female knight we encountered briefly. That can’t be all we get!

About Lucy

If you want to get fancy, Lucy lives in Portland, OR, and has a MA in Writing/Book Publishing, with a focus on Young Adult Literature, and a heaping disregard for literary snobbishness (she was an English Major–she’s seen and spouted her fair share). She works as a social media marketer, and has dabbled in developmental editing as a freelancer.
