Ender’s Game (the movie)

I held off seeing this in the big theaters because, while I really liked the book, I liked the author and his homophobic douchery much less. But when it came to the second-run theaters, I felt I could live with myself for spending $3.00 on it.

And boy did this movie deliver, and how. It was pretty much exactly as epic as I had hoped, and the visuals were stunning. It’s been a few years since I read the book, but it didn’t seem like they left anything major out (I did miss the article-writing intrigue back on Earth, but I think it would have been hard to include without distracting from the main plot). All the acting was on point, and the ending as bittersweet as ever. I’d probably even be up for paying to see it again.

About Lucy

If you want to get fancy, Lucy lives in Portland, OR, and has a MA in Writing/Book Publishing, with a focus on Young Adult Literature, and a heaping disregard for literary snobbishness (she was an English Major–she’s seen and spouted her fair share). She works as a social media marketer, and has dabbled in developmental editing as a freelancer.
